Spectrum Folding Doors FAQ

How do I anchor the door with the Channel Clips, and what do I do with the Closure Channel?
The Channel Clips are to be screwed directly on to the anchor side doorjamb. We suggest using the Closure Channel as an alignment tool simply because it has predrilled holes to mark the jamb. Once you have made the marks on the jamb, set the Closure Channel aside and screw the Channel Clips to the jamb. The Closure Channel is then installed on the opposite side of the jamb for the door to close in to.

Are there Closure Channels for the Via or Contempra door?
No. In the case of a double door, the doors latch together with magnets.

How do the doors stay closed?
Depending on the model, there are magnets or a locking clip on each door.

Express One Folding Doors FAQ

Can the door be made smaller than 6’9″h or larger than 8’h?
The Express One doors can be made to fit any finished opening height up to 8′.

What should I do about returned products?
Make to sure to send the product back in the best condition possible.

Do I need to allow room at the bottom so the door does not drag on the carpet?
No. There is a standard 3/4″ deduction for bottom clearance on every door. This can be changed per the customer’s request for heights less than 8′

If a door is ordered for 8’h, will the panels actually measure 8′?
No. If a door is made for an 8′ height, the panels will actually measure 94 1/2″ due to the 3/4″ deduction for bottom clearance and 3/4″ space allowed for the top track.

How does the door stay closed?
Depending on the height, there are 2 or 3 magnets on each door.

Is there a lock and key lock available?
The Spectrum Folding Door Lock is compatible with the Express One door, but a key lock is unavailable.

Can a double door be made in two unequal sections?
Yes. This is an offset meeting point. However, the longest piece of track available is 8′, so one section of the door should not exceed 8′ wide.

Can the Express One door act as a sound barrier?
This door does not have any sound insulating qualities.

Can a customer request a certain height for the handle location?
For an 8’h door, the lead edge of these doors have pre-drilled holes at 58 1/8″ from the bottom of the panel to the bottom hole for the handle. For a 6’8″ door, the same distance is 44 1/2″. This measurement decreases depending on the customer’s height requirement. It is possible to turn the lead edge upside down to make the handle location lower than the center.

Can a double door wider than 8′ anchor together in the center and pull out to the sides?
No. They must anchor to a door jamb or a stationary post.

Can a single door be made wider than 8′?
It is not recommended since the longest length of track available is 8′.

What stock items compare most to the Express One doors?
The doors are most like our Oakmont door and are very similar to the Encore door. The panel dimensions are 3 1/4″ wide by 1/4″ thick.

What is the warranty period for the Express One and Express One Plus doors?
One year Limited Manufacturer warranty. Please see our Warranty page for more details.

What is the door made of?
The panels are a rigid, double wall Lead-Free vinyl with a hollow, 1/4″ thick core. The hinges are a soft, flexible vinyl.

What are the recommendations for the smallest width and height of a door?
The smallest operable single door can be 9″ wide which makes the smallest possible double door 18″ wide. The smallest height recommended would be 8″ (finished opening size), leaving 1″ above and below the handle.

What is a Double End Post?
An end post is otherwise known as the lead edge, or 2″ panel on which the handle is resides. A single door comes with one end post, but can be ordered with a double end post so that it can open from both sides. A double door always opens from the center, but with double end posts it can open from one or both sides as well.

Is there a curved track available for the Express One doors?
No.

How should the door be cleaned?
It can be cleaned with warm soapy water or any non-abrasive household cleaner.

Can the door be painted?
We do not recommend painting these doors as it would most likely chip off of the panels or hinges.

Is it ok to install the door for exterior use or to cover a window or sliding glass doors?
No. These doors cannot withstand severe weather (i.e. cold, heat, direct sunlight, storms, etc.).

Are the parts replaceable?
